Molding My Character Through Gabe Kim Media

I am writing this on the heels of Gabe Kim Media becoming licensed to officially do business! I’m still learning as I go, but I am really excited to be diving into the world of running my own company! I am committed to the vision I’ve outlined for Gabe Kim Media and will continue to refine it as I go. I’ve enjoyed attending the mixers around Humboldt County, getting to mingle with a wide array of business owners, both big and small. In fact, I became a member of one of the chamber of commerces, which was the Mckinleyville one! The benefits of joining that chamber were certainly evident in the last year. I also became a member of Humboldt Made, which is a collective of artists and small business within Humboldt County. Again, I’ve enjoyed the benefits of becoming a member, and they actually their own mixers every month. All in all, Gabe Kim Media is going to become more and more in the public consciousness in the coming years. I can’t wait to see what the future has in store for me!

I’ve also managed to find business in other areas of the state and country, mainly by scouring online forms, which ties back into a quality I’ve grown. I am becoming increasingly resourceful not only on a local level, but also over the internet. My innate curiosity about the world has yielded clients and molded my identity more. In fact, my Homeless in Humboldt documentary series was fueled by my curiosity about a vulnerable population in Humboldt. I’d not really known much about the unhoused community in general, and making the episodes gave me an abundance of insight about what it means to be down on your luck. To that end, I’ve also dived deep into the world of moviegoing, specifically foreign cinema. I’ve realized that the movies I gravitate toward the most are ones about the human condition and/or struggles of a foreign culture or country. That is to say, I like getting different perspectives on living life from different outlets.

I really hope my curious mind can continually allow me to produce meaningful and heartfelt content. I am not doing any of this work for myself or to showcase as an “art project.” Rather, I want to work with any given client to ensure their needs are met – it’s more about them than me. I’d like to think I care about looking at the world through a critical lens and shining a light on the stories that get buried. It’s an ever-evolving affair, but I am here to have at it!
